I ordered mine from e-bogu and have hit solid ice and trees thousands of times without a single crack in my bokken. It only chipped very slightly when I accidentally rammed it into the asphalt once (which I would expect), but still can withstand getting pounded against trees no problem. If this thing really does break after one hit, then it's clearly poor craftsmanship.
